LedgerStep support

LedgerStep apps provide independent revision material for accountancy students. For help, email ifq@inprocess.uk.

Include the paper name, app version, Android version and a short description of what happened. Do not send passwords, sensitive financial records or a backup containing private notes unless you have removed information you do not want to share. Your email provider and the recipient receive your address and message.

Offline study and saved information

Lessons and practice are included in the app. Version 1.2.0 requires email sign-in before studying. After a verified sign-in, you can study offline until the saved session expires; reconnecting checks the session again. There is no advertising, payment flow or LedgerStep cloud sync. Study answers, notes and saved records stay on your device. Version 1.1.0 introduced optional anonymous usage sharing, off by default for each app; earlier versions do not collect usage analytics.

Lesson completions, question attempts, bookmarks, notes, written responses and the latest timed session are stored privately on your device. Each paper keeps separate progress.

Optional usage sharing

Open More to enable or disable anonymous usage counts. No answers, notes or persistent device identifier are sent. Disabling clears pending events; counts already combined on the server cannot be traced back to you. Study-data reset and backup restore do not change this preference. See your paper’s privacy policy for event categories, retention and connection information.

Keep or move a backup

In the app, open More and choose Export a backup. On Android, select a destination through the system document picker. Backups contain your study activity and written responses. Protect exported files; a provider you select may sync them under its own terms.

Use Restore this paper’s backup in More to select a compatible file for the same paper, edition and variant. Export your current progress first if you want to retain it: restoring a backup replaces the current study state. A backup for another paper is rejected.

If saving or restoring fails, keep the existing app data and note the message shown. Retry the export or contact support. Your account does not back up LedgerStep notes or progress online. Export and privacy information remain available on the sign-in screen.

Delete your shared account

In LedgerStep version 1.2.0, open More, then Account, choose Delete shared account and confirm. This removes your shared IFQ Quest and LedgerStep account, app registrations, sign-in sessions, IFQ cloud progress and associated support history. It does not remove local LedgerStep study records or files you exported.

You can also request account deletion without installing or opening an app: email ifq@inprocess.uk with the subject “Delete my LedgerStep shared account”. Send the request from the account email address and name the LedgerStep app you use. We may ask you to confirm ownership. Do not send a password or sign-in code. The account is shared, so deletion also affects IFQ Quest and other LedgerStep sign-ins using that email.

Anonymous combined usage counts cannot be linked back to an account and remain subject to the published retention period. Encrypted operational backups can still contain older account information after live deletion. Managed daily recovery sets are scheduled to expire after 30 days, provided a recent successful backup and at least seven newer verified sets are available. Failed safety checks delay expiry while we investigate.

Older recovery snapshots outside that schedule may remain longer while being reviewed for safe retirement. They are restricted to authorised recovery or security investigation. We do not use historical copies to reactivate deleted accounts. Contact support about a deletion request or retained data.

Delete study data

To remove this paper’s local study data and recovery copies, open More, choose Reset this paper’s progress and confirm. Export a backup first if you want to keep a copy. Resetting one paper does not reset the other apps.

Android’s Clear storage or uninstall also removes app-private data. Files you previously exported remain at their chosen destination; delete those separately if no longer needed.

Study scope

Check the app’s Coverage and syllabus view for its edition, included topics and limitations. These are selected revision companions, not complete courses or official ACCA products. Written responses use self-assessment; practice scores do not predict an examination result.
